Happy Halloween!

For a variety of reasons I ended up not planning this year’s DAA Family trick-or-treating night and nobody else volunteered to take over. We had the opportunity to take the kids to a neighborhood tonight but Kiira and Aidan have a really bad track record when it comes to trick-or-treating. I ended up giving some little fruit snack packets to three neighbors and Aidan went to those houses. He was comfortable and there were no melt downs.

Aidan was dressed up as Charlie from the Charlie and Lola books and cartoon by Lauren Child. I forgot my camera at school, so I’ll upload more pictures tomorrow.

Baby Shower at the TOP

Anne will be having her second boy this summer while she’s back in the US. We decided to have a small baby shower for her, mostly just for some girl time. Turns out it’s kind of hard to explain what a baby shower is to many non North Americans. I think they get hung up on the English wording.

We all got together at AT.MOSPHERE in the Burj Khalifa for tea. The food was very good and the views were great, but the swaying of the building and the whistling wind were a little nerve wracking.

Summer Plans

We just got our tickets for our flights home yesterday. It’s a short summer in the States this year because we’re going to a friend’s wedding in Salzburg. The only way to swing it was if we included it as an extended layover on our flight home. So we’ll be spending a lovely hot and humid month in Dubai before school starts. It won’t be too bad. It gives us time to get settled, we have to pay Mesy for the month anyway, so she can watch Aidan once or twice a week while we run errands or go to the movies. This also gives us plenty of pool and beach time with Aidan.

We haven’t gotten our tickets for Columbus yet, but I’ll post that as soon as I can. The rest of the info can be found HERE.

Valentine’s Day, Birthday, & Anniversary

I can’t believe I forgot to tell you about my Valentine’s Day, Birthday, and anniversary dinner/present!
Patrick and Omar made reservations for the Burj Al Arab’s Culinary Flight. We had pre-dinner drinks and then a dinner where each course was at a different Burj restaurant. We were escorted to every restaurant, the decor was wild and over the top, the food was awesome, there was even a “submarine” ride! Seriously, instead of just walking to the restaurant for the main course, we waited in this lobby outside of a vault door. After a few minutes, the doors opened and an employee ushered us into a little room tricked out to look like a luxury sub. It was really one of those rides where you move along with a video so that it feels real (Park Plaza had one for a while). It really just rotated us around and opened up at the other restaurant, but it was really fun.

The dinner lasted for hours and we were so full that we were practically falling asleep over dessert.

Happy Easter

A few of the families got together and had an egg hunt this morning. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as cool as last week and within 30 minutes we were dyin’. We got the eggs out as quickly as possible and set the kids loose.

For whatever reason I couldn’t get Patrick’s pictures or video off the iPhone, so there are only a few pictures and videos. I hope to add Patrick’s stuff soon.

He also sent some of the automated photo postcards to the grandparents, so keep an eye out for them in the mail.
